Winda

The title says it all: Winda, in Polish, means wind, and here the wind becomes sculpture. This female bronze figure seems caught in a suspended instant: her hair, her arms, even her head seem to move, pushed by an invisible force. It is a work that breathes movement, even though it is solid matter. The moving parts suggest that identity, indeed the body itself, can change direction, like leaves in the wind. Metzler does not simply sculpt a woman: he sculpts a moment. This version is a maquette for a monumental seventeen-metre sculpture in corten steel, made in Wyoming, where the open landscape and strong winds amplify the sense of natural force and freedom.

Il titolo è già tutto un programma: Winda, in polacco, significa vento, e qui il vento si fa scultura. Questa figura femminile in bronzo sembra catturata in un attimo sospeso: i capelli, le braccia, persino la testa sembrano muoversi, spinti da una forza invisibile. È un'opera che respira movimento, pur essendo materia solida. Le parti mobili suggeriscono che l'identità, il corpo stesso, possano cambiare direzione, come foglie nel vento. Metzler non si limita a scolpire una donna: scolpisce un momento. Questa versione è un bozzetto per un'imponente scultura di 17 metri in ferro corten, realizzata in Wyoming, dove il paesaggio aperto e i venti forti amplificano il senso di forza naturale e libertà.
