Pace

This travertine column, imposing and almost archaic, is the only work by Metzler conceived specifically for this place. It is carved like a monolith, a stele of our time, holding two parallel narratives within it: the everyday and the eternal, family and transcendence. On the side you are looking at, Metzler has set small scenes representing the family in the different phases of the day. They are minimal moments, a meal, a gesture of affection, a shared presence, yet it is precisely in these fragments that the deepest meaning of life condenses, according to the artist. If you move to the other side, you will find an even more powerful reflection: here Peace wins over Death, built on human relationships, memory, and love.

Questa colonna di travertino, imponente e quasi arcaica, è l'unica opera di Metzler pensata specificamente per questo luogo. È scolpita come un monolite, una stele del nostro tempo, e racchiude in sé due narrazioni parallele: il quotidiano e l'eterno, la famiglia e la trascendenza. Sul lato che stai osservando, Metzler incastona piccole scene che rappresentano la famiglia nelle diverse fasi della giornata. Diese Säule aus Travertin, mächtig und beinahe archaisch, ist das einzige Werk Metzlers, das eigens für diesen Ort gedacht wurde. Sie ist wie ein Monolith, eine Stele unserer Zeit, und enthält zwei parallele Erzählungen: das Alltägliche und das Ewige, die Familie und die Transzendenz. Auf der Seite, die der Betrachter sieht, hat Metzler kleine Szenen eingelassen, die die Familie in den verschiedenen Tagesphasen zeigen. Geht man auf die andere Seite, findet man eine noch kraftvollere Reflexion: hier siegt der Frieden über den Tod. Kein rhetorischer oder abstrakter Frieden, sondern ein Frieden, der auf menschlichen Beziehungen, Erinnerung und Liebe gebaut ist. Eine Skulptur, die langsam zu betrachten ist, indem man sich um sie herumbewegt wie um einen Altar.
