Gatta da Letto

With this work, Metzler continues his research into hybrids between human and animal, creating a sculpture of strong symbolic and emotional charge. La Gatta da letto belongs to a series of anthropomorphic sculptures in which the female body merges with feline traits, evoking desire, seduction, but also ambiguity and instinct. Laid out in a sensual pose on a bed sculpted with great mastery, the figure dominates the scene, but is far from being merely an object of desire. The bed becomes a symbolic space of exchange: at its ends two key elements appear. On one side, a figure alluding to money, what the figure demands. On the other, the heart, what she offers in return: love, affection, or perhaps the illusion of these. A silent dramaturgy on power, body and female identity.

Con quest'opera, Metzler prosegue la sua ricerca sulle ibridazioni tra umano e animale, dando vita a un'opera di forte carica simbolica ed emotiva. La Gatta da letto appartiene a una serie di sculture antropomorfe in cui il corpo femminile si fonde con tratti felini, evocando desiderio, seduzione, ma anche ambiguità e istinto. Adagiata in posa sensuale su un letto scolpito con grande maestria, notevole il drappeggio delle lenzuola, la figura domina la scena, ma è tutt'altro che semplice oggetto del desiderio. Il letto diventa uno spazio simbolico di scambio: ai suoi estremi compaiono due elementi chiave. Da un lato, una figura che allude al denaro, ciò che la figura richiede; dall'altro, il cuore, ciò che offre in cambio: amore, affetto o forse illusione di essi. Una drammaturgia silenziosa sul potere, il corpo e l'identità femminile.

Mit diesem Werk setzt Metzler seine Forschung über Hybridisierungen zwischen Mensch und Tier fort und schafft eine Skulptur von starker symbolischer und emotionaler Ladung. Gatta da letto gehört zu einer Serie anthropomorpher Skulpturen, in denen sich der weibliche Körper mit Katzenzügen verbindet, und Begehren, Verführung, aber auch Ambiguität und Instinkt evoziert. Sinnlich auf einem mit grosser Kunstfertigkeit modellierten Bett liegend, dominiert die Figur die Szene, ist aber alles andere als nur Objekt der Begierde. Das Bett wird zum symbolischen Tauschraum: an seinen Enden erscheinen zwei Schlüsselelemente. Auf der einen Seite eine Figur, die auf das Geld anspielt, das, was die Gestalt verlangt. Auf der anderen das Herz, das, was sie im Tausch gibt: Liebe, Zuneigung, vielleicht die Illusion davon. Eine schweigsame Dramaturgie über Macht, Körper und weibliche Identität.
